ACI Marina Dubrovnik - The Perfect Base for
exploring the South Adriatic
This modern marina has three hundred and fifty berths in the sea and one
hundred and fifty berths on land, as well as all accompanying facilities
which rank it among the best equipped marinas in Croatia. It is also one of
the oldest marinas on the Croatian part of the Adriatic. Ever since opening
in 1971 it has become well-known and recognizable among nautical tourists
for being located in an area of outstanding natural, historic and cultural
significance.
ACI Marina Dubrovnik - Location
ACI Marina Dubrovnik in Komolac, located near the source of the river
Ombla, is the holder of a prestigious Blue flag. The marina is completely protected
from storm waves and the sea. It is considered to be one of the safest
marinas in Croatia. A long breakwater protects the marina from the river
currents. (Click pictures to enlarge them.)

Dubrovačka bay, near Port of Gruž, on the D8 state road at the
north-western approach to Dubrovnik.
ACI marina Dubrovnik lies in the immediate vicinity of Komolac, in the
beautiful and environmentally protected bay of Rijeka Dubrovacka, about
2 NM from the entrance to the port of Gruž and only 6 km from the old
city nucleus. Rijeka Dubrovačka is 5 km long and narrow bay, near north
entrance to Dubrovnik.
Karst springs rise at the end of the bay, the biggest one is source of
river Ombla. After some 20 km of underground flow, this river comes
straight out of the stone cliffs as the powerful spring. It is only 30
m long but very wide and powerful (average discharge is 24 m³/s) and it
is reputed to be the shortest river in the world. It also supplies the
drinking water for this area. Due to its beauty and mild climate, mainly
because of the influence of river Ombla, Rijeka Dubrovačka was the
favorite summer residence area of Dubrovnik nobles who build their
renaissance summer palaces here. The remains of those
palaces, some from
the 16 century, can be found even today along the shores of Rijeka
Dubrovačka.
